Things to do in West Stockbridge
West Stockbridge is a collection of 5 distinct villages along the border with New York State, and home to approximately 1,300 residents. The town’s many wetlands, streams, and rivers contribute to lands making up the Flat Brook Wildlife Management Area and Maple Hill Wildlife Management Areas and are open to the public for wildlife conservation and management. The Williams River’s forested banks of the river maintain cool temperatures beneficial to trout. Shaker Mill Pond and Cranberry Pond are accessible to canoers and kayakers. Stevens Glen offers a loop trail to a waterfall through a rocky cleft. The moderately challenging trail features a metal platform overlooking the waterfall. Winter visitation can be icy and challenging (wear ice cleats) but offers amazing views.
