Things to do in Pittsfield

The largest city in Berkshire County, Pittsfield has a wide range of options for outdoor recreation. The two branches of the Housatonic River can be accessed from several locations. Pittsfield also has two lakes featuring boat ramps, swimming, and picnic areas, and fishing. Pittsfield State Forest boasts more than 10,000 acres of recreational land with camping, hiking, mountain biking, ORV and snowmobile use, horseback riding, and the ADA-accessible Tranquility Trail. Non-motorized boats can be put in at Berry Pond, the highest-elevation body of water in Massachusetts. The city has more than 30 parks designed for particular uses, such as the Skate Park adjacent to Pittsfield High School or the Dog Park at Burbank Park.
