Things to do in Otis

The rural town of Otis sits south of the Massachusetts Turnpike.  The 1,000+ acre Otis Reservoir was created in 1865 by a dam across the Fall River and is popular for boating, fishing, swimming, and camping. The Tolland State Forest borders the southernmost portion of the lake and offers a boat launch, a 93-site campground with a comfort station, and the Gilmore self-guided interpretive trail. The Department of Conservation and Recreation manages a boat ramp for small boats, canoes, and kayaks on the 327-acre Big Benton Pond, which is annually stocked with Rainbow, Brook, and Brown Trout and has native populations of bass, pickerel, and perch. Operating since 1946, the Otis Ridge Ski Area offers area skiers and snowboarders 25 miles of trails and a 400-foot vertical drop served from four ski lifts.
