Things to do in Mount Washington
The smallest community in Berkshire County, Mount Washington’s 165 residents live near four mountain peaks within a high-altitude valley. Bash Bish Falls, Massachusetts’ highest waterfall, plunges 60 feet and features a strenuous hike alongside the falls, the South Taconic Trail, as well as easier trails in Taconic State Park, in nearby Copake, New York. The town has a variety of hiking trails, including almost seven miles of the Appalachian Trail. Other trails lead hikers to vistas from the summits of Mount Frissell, Mount Everett, and Mount Alander. Mount Washington State Forest, Mount Everett State Reservation, and Jug End Wildlife Management Areas are all popular with hunters, campers, and birdwatchers.
